The interest of tennis in the Asian region is exploding! And with Li Na becoming the first Asian woman to win the French Open singles title the game in Asia without question has a bright future. It is estimated already in China alone there are 130 million people interested in the game and 5 million active participants. The governing bodies of the men’s and women’s professional tours are now focusing on the growth of the game in Asia, which is evident by the increase in number of professional events in the region. Asian professional players both past and present such as Kei Nishikori, Leander Paes, Li Na, Kimiko Date, Shuai Peng, Paradorn Srichiphan, Tamarine Tanasugarn, Yen-Hsun Lu, Qureshi Aisam-Ul-Haq, Rohan Bopanna, and many others moving up the ranks continue to establish themselves at the top of the world rankings. Equally as significant is the recent success and in some cases domination of the Asian juniors at the international level. In 2008 the number one junior boy and girl players in the world came from India and Thailand. All the signs suggest Asia is destined to dominate tennis at the elite level in the near future as the Russians recently did in the 1990s.

Testimonials

As a player I found TGTA to be a place where the coaches took an interest in my life off the court as much as on the court.  The coaching staff saw me as a person not just a player, which helped my performance on the court greatly.  To me this puts TGTA ahead of the other academy programs in the region.

- Jeetendra (Nepalese National #2 player for 2010 Asian Games)
